Description
This the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway's most famous and endearing symbol which originally appeared as a very successful advertising campaign in the early 1930s. It was used to advertise C&O's new air-conditioned sleeping car service. Chessie, “America’s Sleepheart,” was the talk of the railroad world, and propelled C&O to the top ranks of rail advertising. The photo was shot from an original ad print which I own and can be enlarged. A great photo for a child's bedroom perhaps!
